Embracing life with chronic pain and illnesses.

Endurance

James 1:2-4 says: “When all kinds of trials crowd into your lives, my brothers, don’t resent them as intruders, but welcome them as friends! Realize that they come to test your faith and to produce in you the quality of endurance. But let the process go on until that endurance is fully developed.”

What a poignant reminder for those of us dealing with chronic health conditions/illnesses! God has allowed us a unique opportunity…one that truly allows us to physically bear a small fraction of Jesus Christ crucified.

By embracing this “gift”, I have received a fresh new view of the pain that is ravaging my body and the ensuing isolation of being homebound.  Liken it to how your vision was changed by your first pair of glasses…words jumping from the page…leaves with crisp edges…scribbling on the chalkboard actually words and/or numbers.
