Fire in the Sky
The brilliant shine
Igniting the sky above…
Clouds glowing
As if molten hot…
The mountains dark
Standing tall and chilled…
The clouds are outlined
As with the artist’s brush…
Breath is paused
While taking in God’s canvas…
The brilliant shine
Igniting the sky above…
Clouds glowing
As if molten hot…
The mountains dark
Standing tall and chilled…
The clouds are outlined
As with the artist’s brush…
Breath is paused
While taking in God’s canvas…
The majesty of the Rocky Mountains
As I am blessed to view from a high meadow
Fills my heart with joy and peace.
The vision of the old homestead
Sitting silently in front of the Aspens
With the sage meadow stretching around.
The quiet stillness with no breath of breeze
Speaks of the enormity, the great expanse
Of Heavenly Father’s magnificent creation.
I am overwhelmed with emotion
My eyes drink deeply of the beauty
Taking in the vibrancy of colors.
The sudden stabbing in my hands
Disturbs my state of mental bliss
As pain courses through my body.
The mountains form a strong backdrop
I feel a tear fall from my eye
As I once again lose myself in the vision.
As a new day dawns
The mountain shines
As if covered with gold.
The early colors
Cast an unearthly hue
To the life around.
The blue of the sky
Pales against
The brilliance of the rock.
All is still
No breath of wind
Silence unbroken.
Out in the early hours of opening day, riding in the truck with my husband, I was overwhelmed by the beauty around us.
“How Great Thou Art” kept playing in my mind.
The trees in their many shades of Fall against the deep, dark colors of the evergreens. The blue of the sky with the white and gray clouds floating on high.
The wind that was twisting and bending the grasses.
Watching the hawks with wings spread riding the currents with no need to use their own power. Â Up and down they coursed, as if dancing with an unseen partner.
Squirrels darting to and fro…racing up the trunks of a tree…running across the dirt road with tail high…to perch on a fallen branch.
Hearing the “Quakers”…those aspens whose leaves and branches are shaking in the wind…ever shifting….writhing…motion unstoppable….caught up in the ever moving breeze.
The magnitude of the beauty that surrounds us…the vibrancy of all the colors…the power of the wind…the greatness of it all…
Continued to expound…”How Great Thou Art”.
